As preparation for writing, and number recognition, this numeracy board is designed to help children/tamariki understand the different movements and angles that form numbers along with number recognition and one to one counting.
The numeracy board is double sided with engraved numbers on one sided and a counting tray on the reverse.
Children can use their finger to trace and feel the curves and angles of the numbers and can also use the dowel to begin to make the movements with a pencil like tool, which also helps develop their pencil grip. Another hands on way for exploring with this board is to use materials such as seeds, petals and beads to fill in the numbers and create a piece of art. the counting tray on the reverse provides an opportunity to learn values with the numerical number and word in te reo Māori.
Board is made with untreated pine and finished with a combination of natural oils to enhance and protect the wood.
Board measures 30 x 18 x 1.8cm.
